Some ramblings from last week

Ok so I wanted to post about last weeks session but somehow the days slipped me and suddenly we to the point where we should be posting about this weeks readings! Good Gravy! Anywyas it was a bad idea because I don't remember all I wanted to say But I just wanted to pretty much agree with what seemed to be most of us that last weeks discussion was great. We didn't really talk about any crazy new terms but I loved how Dr. Fawson was able to present ideas in a way that made me think twice about terms I use almost weekly AKA poverty trap. That term is used a lot in my classes and I thought I knew what the word meant, but last week I was able to think about it more in depth. Like how the word is linked to thinking that people can't pull themselves out without our help. I guess that would make sense of the word "trap", but I still like to believe in people and feel they are capable of doing more than sitting and waiting for someone to do everything. I liked the comment that it seems easy to label people, or to think that the people in poor areas of the world are not aware of their situation. They probably are, just like we are aware we are poor college students. We just can't quite figure out how to get rich while attending to all the duties that come with being a full time college student. Well I guess I should say at least I haven't figured that out. I am qualified for jobs but no one wants me because I'll be leaving in a month :) Anyways, people who are poor know it and they don't need a white person coming in "informing" them of their situation. Go figure. I am also impressed by what everyone had to say about it. I wasn't clear of my standings on Sachs plan, but there were a lot of great points brought out. So just giving everyone a high five! Yes! I feel like I'm slacking because graduation is around the corner, so two thumbs up for everyone stick in to it! See ya all Wednesday! Yee-haw!
