The last segment of "The Devil's Footpath" carried with it a profound message. South Africa seemed like the ideal place to end the video, because despite the high violence and racism that still exist in South Africa, there is progress! It seems like the chaotic nations of the interior are juxtaposed by fairly progressing nations to the north and south (Morocco and South Africa). It will be interesting to see how those influential countries will come into play with the development of the rest of the continent.
Yet despite the great potential and hope of Africans throughout her journey, June realizes that even she needs to leave in order to succeed. She recognizes the ambitions and optimism of the people; yet, she realizes that not much can be done with such incapable governments. It seems that true change will only come when various actors (governments, citizens, international aid, businesses, etc) all come together. It's a difficult undertaking...
